Categories

Introduction

The CategoriesService allows you to search and list the business categories supported by Google. These categories are required when creating or updating a Location.

You can access this service via client.categories.

Methods

list(options)

Purpose

Returns a list of categories supported by Google Business Profile.

Syntax

search(options)

Purpose

Searches for categories matching a specific search term. This is highly useful for building a category autocomplete feature in your UI.

Multi-word Search

Google's raw Business Profile API has a known bug where searching for multi-word strings in the filter (like petrol pump) will either crash or ignore the filter entirely.

Our SDK automatically intercepts your searchTerm, passes the first word to Google to fetch a small subset, and performs the rest of the multi-word matching in-memory. This guarantees you will always get accurate results for complex queries without having to write your own filter workaround!
